BC: College Essay Prompt 1:

College Essay Prompt 1:
Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.

Resigning in Alameda, California, a little island that not much have heard about, is where I basically grew and realized much from. I came from an Asian household, where shoes aren’t allowed to be touching the carpets, where you’ll see chopsticks in the kitchen, where adults have high expectations from their children, where rules should be followed. One of my aunts was the first to move to America, therefore, changing our lives. For one thing, moving to America was a different experience; we had to change our language, our live styles, etc. Although it was hard, we had to do it anyways. One person I’d look up to would definitely be my grandpa. He’s gone through so much to help support my family.
My grandpa came to America without knowing any English, but that didn’t stop him from anything. He went to adult school and had books and books where he increased his knowledge for English. He was also a talented, generous, and an open-minded, never letting anyone getting in his way of anything.
During the beginning of 8th grade, everything changed where my life went a bit downhill. This was the year I lost someone important in my life. My grandpa never had the healthiest body, but he remained strong, although he had cancer. I remember him staying at the Oakland Hospital, where he had to get radiation for a month straight. After a week or so in, he felt weak and the following day, he told the nurse where he didn’t want radiation anymore, but the nurse couldn’t decide what he can and can’t do, they just had to listen to the doctor’s order, so they made him get radiation either ways. That same day my mom went to take my grandma for a checkup, so they decided to visit my grandpa. But it was too late. My mom walked in on my grandpa, assuming he was just taking a nap on his bed, so she tried waking him up. No response. She tried calling his name more and louder. Still, no response. So from there, my mom called the nurse. But it was too late. We already lost him… I had never seen my mom so devastated in my life before.
After this, I’ve realized how much I wanted to help if I could. It changed my mindset and my goal for the future. After experiencing to losing someone I love, I decided I wanted to be in the medical field to help others, making sure nothing like this would happen to anyone else. Of course, that seems impossible to stop someone from a death, but anything’s possible. This made me realize how I want to make a difference, a change, an impact on others’ life. I see myself helping others when they’re needed, such as, a cure to cancer, saving a life, or even something little like that nurse’s situation, like persuading the doctor to not let my grandpa get radiation that day.
No one else knows why I ever wanted to be in the medical field, including myself to be honest, until recently. At first I thought I wanted to be there was because my mom wanted me to so I wanted to make her proud and because I enjoy helping others. But no, I realized after losing someone you love and care about, you really don’t want anyone else to be in the same position as you did once. And maybe others can look up
to me and I can be their role model if I save someone’s life, one day.

Did this hella last minuet, so hella BS-ed this. Whatever, I'll revise it later.

FREE: 2nd hand pain.

"The people you love the most are those who hurts you the most."

I forgot who or where I've heard that from, but that quote is definitely on point. You expect the people you love to not hurt you, but truly speaking, the smallest thing they do can affect you the most. I think the reason for this is because, when it comes to others, you could really care less about what they do nor what they say. But when it's someone you actually care about, you take their actions and words to heart, because you know they're just looking out for you, protecting you, and they know what's best for you, therefore, even if they're a bit too straight forward, you'd take it personal. And if they have a negative insult about you, then you'd feel more shitty, since you're hearing it from someone that you care about.

The next thing is when you see them hurt. When you see them in a bad mood and whatnot, their mood somehow begins to rub on you. I know I'm not the only one who feels like this, but when I see one of my close friends crying, i'll just tend to get the feeling to cry too. Seeing a close friend hurt, hurts. It hurts for you just as much as it'll hurt for them. Everyone have those bad days, but I really don't care about anyone else when they're on their bad days. But when it comes to those you care about, you'd actually care and just ask them what'sup.

I'm not sure if this post even made any sense, it sounded better in my head. Ohwells.
Oh & I titled this "2nd hand pain," because it's like 2nd hand smoking. While others smoke cigarettes around you, you'd get affected as well, which is similar to how if your close friend is down, you're also affected by it.

FREE: Time to exit.

3 years of walking down the hallways of Alameda High School and now we're finally Seniors.

It's crazy how fast these years has been. We came to AHS not knowing anything about high school and then experienced our high school football games during Friday nights, finally having off campus lunch, representing our class during Homecoming, meeting new people, attending all the school events, and watching the Seniors leave every year... and finally, this year is our year.

High School has given me many different experiences, it has changed us all in many different ways. We've all grown and (some) of us has matured. We're now the Seniors that Freshmen possibly fear.

I can't possibly seeing myself away from my friends. I've grew a close to a few, but lost a few at the same time. High school taught me who my true friends were and who weren't. It's pretty depressing knowing that we're all going to go on our separate paths, giving us miles of distance apart.

I know that most of us are excited & ready to leave high school, just as I am, but at the same time, there's something that's holding me back. College is the next step for us (well some of us). The term "college" frightens and excites me all at once. I know we're all about to stress because of college app. Some of us still aren't satisfied with our SAT scores, some hasn't decide on what they're going to major in, and some don't even know what colleges to apply for.  Although we still have a little bit more time to figure things out, whatever we decide to do will be our choice and our next step onto life. We're about to step into the world and experience new things. Yeah, it's a cold and scary world out there, but we all have to leave our nest sooner or later. We only have this year to live up High School and enjoy our last 176 days left together!

Get ready & KISS MY CLASS GOODBYE! :}

RE: Things I want to do before I die.

A little response from Kevin Jang's blog on his life goals.

When it comes to life-long goals, I have a few that are similar to his:

The first goal is definitely on point. I live with only my mom, and she has been the toughest woman I know. She wakes up early on the daily, goes to work, cooks and clean, but yet she still has the time to put up with me. I never really show my appreciation towards her, and my attitude towards her may not always be positive. I know I can never repay her back from what she has done for me, but I obviously will try.

I see myself living in a suburb area, a nice Mercedes or BMW, & a caring family.
Just as Kevin said, "I want a job that I actually enjoy doing and not a job where I wake up in the morning and say "UGHH, work again!" I see myself working in the medical field. I'm not sure which position in there I want to take roll of, but definitely in that field. I told myself how I want to change someone's life, but who knows how that'll turn out. But, I've always enjoyed helping others, so doing something I love would be me helping and curing the ones in need.

Traveling, well honestly, I hate airplanes and long car rides. As much as I enjoy traveling, I hate the process of it. But having family members in another country is a reason why I enjoy traveling. There are so many places in this world that I'd like to have an experience in, for example, Paris, Japan, Hawaii, etc.

Sorry, I don't think i'd ever skydive. I'm scared shitless when it comes to heights! I'm even scared of hills; especially driving on them!

Being satisfied with who I am definitely is one goal i'd like to accomplish. As for now, I wouldn't be able to say i'm truly happy for who I am. I'd see myself as those people who walks out the door with a fake smile on. But I promise myself, one day, I'll reach to a point where I can say "There's no one else I'd rather be than being myself."

& Then there are friends. Well, there are friends and then there are true friends. True friends aren't easy to find. Not everyone will be there for you. Take Facebook for examples, you may have 500+ friends, but if you're ever in a situation where you need someone, how many of them would actually be there for you? I guarantee you  3/4 of your friends there wouldn't even bother trying. Friendships needs trust and honesty; something not many people have these days.

CE: September 11.

As we approach the 9/11's tenth anniversary, there has been many images in my mind. We grew up in the generation that saw this massive tragedy. Lives were taken upon many families, co-workers, friends, etc., but will always be remembered. Every year, we
reminisce about this specific day. We cannot forget what happened. Sure, we were in 2nd grade, but those images on TV, the teachers watching in the room in horror, and the confusion that was going around the classrooms stick to my mind.

The coverage by the media has caused many twisted ideas and in a way has help these so-called terrorist plot even more. The security in the US has tighten lot, but sometimes I think it is not enough. One reason could be that the media has shown so many things on TV that maybe people can see a loophole in the system. This is concerning due to the fact that so many people travel in and out of the US. This growing fear of losing security has made politicians promise things that cannot be done. In my opinion, to improve homeland security would be a HUGE task to handle. You cannot predict people's movements and thoughts, so it makes taking the next step a hard one.

What if some finds a loop hole in what is implemented?
Then we would have another catastrophe and we would start from point A again. It is almost like a vicious cycle. We cannot totally trust that homeland security is always there to protect us, we just have to trust them that they
are doing all that they can to protect us.
